      @JaminSpeer Once the lecture ended, that professor told us basically "I didn’t know this paper, but when you speak with someone with such a long resume, you have to pretend you know stuff" 😑

        @JaminSpeer It was *not* an inspirational moment, it was also really bad because it told us, PhD students at a second tier grad school, that our value as researchers will never increase regardless of what we do or publish And what about being natural for once?

            @JaminSpeer I have been raised in a family where we were told that status doesn’t matter. People do, regardless of their race, age, social class and whatnot. This experience reignited those lessons really fast, and since then I took great care to absolutely avoid reading resumes…

                @JaminSpeer Nowadays, I approach anyone based on the prism of "who are you as a person? And what are your ideas?" instead of the prism of "how long is your resume?"
