  1. Let me add my voice: #EconTwitter literally changed my life when a certain thread of mine went viral in January It wiped out my disgust and turned it into joy. Not enough for me to stay in academia, but good enough to convince me not to give up research! @causalinf/1154812443148902400

I also want to add that it seems to me this good spirit is mostly driven by scholars based in/with strong connections with the US. I don’t feel a similar sense of community among French for instance. I’m not saying it’s bad or anything, it’s just something else/different.

(But tbh, the dynamics between French teachers and French students is something I have never understood. That’s the reason why I actually vastly reduced my teaching in the last two years, because I am unable to handle this dynamics.

And because of that, I struggle to engage with students the way I wanted to. They’re usually passive and waiting for the Professor to deliver his Knowledge. This is absolutely not how I see teaching. I tried to adapt, but I always failed:

I just can’t go with this role of being the Professor, and students weren’t responsive when I tried something different. I would love to teach in a different country/culture though, especially in one where the dynamics between students and teachers is "flatter".)
