      This piece is fear-mongering ("Europeans will stripe away the 1st amendment"), culturally ignorant (Europeans have a different relationship with freedom of speech) and is basically one huge confirmation bias.

        As an university professor, one might expect some sort of distance: restrictions on freedom of speech have consequences, bad and good. Why only mention the bad? This column is pure ideology.
