                        1. I post less econ stuff on Twitter these days because the writing of my PhD thesis is currently a nightmare. So when it comes to econ, I prefer to focus my energy on this damn PhD instead of Twitter. I know #EconTwitter is a positive space, but not hiding the hard stuff…

…is also important I think, as things can sometimes be quite challenging. That being said, I can't wait to take part again to the econ conversation here! Especially because I have a bunch of interesting and exciting things I want to share with you guys!

(And if you want some details why it's currently hard for me: - 7 years long PhD, which is way too long according to French standards (and me). But I've had some (minor but really annoying) health issues during it, so… (I'm good now, and the issues are definitely solved)

                    - I have a job on the side - I am a people pleaser, and I'm the sort who volunteer even if I shouldn't. I fought this for a long time, but I've decided it's a part of who I am and accepted to deal with its shortcomings instead of fighting it (min cost)

                  - While I was this close to finally have my results, my agent-based simulation broke in the weirdest possible way. I had to rewrite huge chunks of code to make it back working… - The unusually bizarre weather: one day of warm, the next one of cold. It's exhausting.

                - Lack of sleep, because of stress. Sleep has always been a sensitive subject for me, but the stress of the approaching deadline for my PhD isn't really improving it… - Experienced two huge shitstorms on Twitter (in French), including one where I've been raided by a 60k account

That being said, I don't want to be overly negative, so here's a bunch of positive things that happened to me lately: - I am back at working out, and it feels so great! (#summerbody) - My gym moved to an awesome new place - Back at hiking too - Went to Phantasialand for two days

            - My new iPhone XS is the best iPhone I've ever had - My friends - My colleagues in Nancy - Got funded by @inet to run a workshop in November (scasa.co/LorConsEcon2019) - Realized I might adjust easier than I thought to a non-academic career - The wonderful city of Nancy

          - A lot of personal growth, after years of work with my (awesome) therapist - Visited an iron mine, a huge gallo-roman amphitheater and the house of Joan of Arc after literally *years* of trying to do so. And it was so cool! - Met an awesome new friend

        - My French speaking econ and skeptict popularization project @EcoSceptique is slowly taking off - Reading your conversations here, even if I'm not participating - @jodiecongirl tweets And so on!

So as you can see, the shit is mostly around the PhD. I know it's just a matter of time, despite everything I'm still working on it. It'll get better! And now I can close the parentheses because yes, technically we are still within parentheses. Can you spot where it started?)

You know you need a better sleep cycle when:
oh my god twitter doesn’t include alt text from images in their API

After my defense, I will take the time to write a long reflection piece on this whole experience. I plan to be extremely candid, including regarding my own failures. If I can prevent even one person to do the same mistakes I made during my PhD, I’ll be glad to help.
