          1. This thread just resurfaced in my notifications. Let me add a couple of updates. First: I have decided to *continue* to do econ research. This is a major change. The reactions I received made me realize how important are econ and understanding the world for me. 1/8 @simardcasanova/1084962269719678976

Second: it’s actually not a change, but I still won’t go with academia. French academia could be an option, but it’s so underpaid, with so little money and support for research. And the trend is downward… In the US, I don’t want to go through the tenure track. 2/

As I mentioned the other day in this tweet, location is an important factor for me. Basically, I want to have a significant experience in the US. So I need to find a job that is located in the US. 3/ @simardcasanova/1104130632626696192?s=20

I haven’t decided yet (and I still have time before making a decision), but I’m exploring two paths: finding a job in the private sector, or creating my own company. I’m leaning more toward the latter these days, but as I said I still have time to figure things out. 4/

I already created some little company a few years ago. It not ended well, but I learned a lot. I also have a couple of ideas regarding what activity this company would pursue. And it would completely free me to choose whatever location I want. 5/

Third: I am more motivated than ever to advocate and fight for diversity in economics, including for the recognition of people at non-top institutions. Whatever my career choice will be, this fight will be major. 6/

Fourth: it is not a decision yet, but on top of my French popularization media @EcoSceptique, I am considering to do something in English. I have an idea I need to explore. If doable, I will annonce more on that before the end of the year (my PhD first). 7/

Overall, the virality of my thread has been a huge game changer for me, at so many levels. I am glad it happened, not because of the number of likes and retweets and impressions, but because it helped me to grow as a person-thanks to you guys! Have a good day! 8/8
