@MikeRizzi I will travel twice in CA from France in September, I expect to take a hit because of the time difference. Some advices I collected: it’s always easier to adapt when you go East-West, than the contrary: it’s a bit as if you’ll have a longer day.

@MikeRizzi That being said, a friend who travel a lot to Montréal told me that you can be strategic with your sleep to mitigate the negative effects. Something like: try to rest or sleep in the plane according to the time at your destination.

@MikeRizzi For instance, if you leave France at 8h but arrive in CA at 13h, sleep at the beginning of the fly to allow your body to adapt as early as possible.

@MikeRizzi Also, avoid sleeping pills or coffee. In both cases you’ll be more tired than something else. And drink a lot of water during the flight. Walk a bit in the plane for sake of your legs and back.

@MikeRizzi You can also start to prepare your body by sleeping according to the destination time the day before leaving. And once at destination, try to be exposed to the light of the sun as much as possible (instead of artificial light), it helps the body to adapt faster.

@MikeRizzi I hadn’t had the opportunity to try all of these advices yet, and some people are more sensitive to time differences than others (I usually adjust quite rapidly).

@MikeRizzi In any case, I hope you’ll enjoy your trip, and feel free to give some kind of feedback about what you did to manage the time difference!
