    1. Rewatching the Lord of The Rings as an adult is such a different experience compared to when I was a teenager I admire the scale and depth of the universe Tolkien created, but I’m really uncomfortable with some of his philosophical stances

    The whole Christian underlying message? Not for me. But what I really dislike is the overall elegiac tone of his work, the idea that history is basically a continuous decline toward mediocrity – or worse

        I understand why a man who fought WWI in the trenches and saw the evil of the Third Reich can think that But it’s just so different compared to my own view of life
