    @GarthHeutel That was my first idea as well but based on what some pro-degrowth people told me (and they obviously know the literature better than I do) you cannot use recessions to infer its CO2 efficacy

      @GarthHeutel They claim it’s a complete change of society (at least some of them, because there’s A LOT of vastly different definitions) and hence you cannot use the statistical relationship of capitalism to infer how a degrowth based economy would behave

        @GarthHeutel I guess they first said that to counteract the claim that degrowth is basically an organized recession (which is not that promising nor exciting PR wise tbh) but this claim leads to this complete empirical dead end

          @GarthHeutel But the burden of the proof is on them to prove degrowth is working, not on the opponents to prove it’s not So I guess they kind of shot themselves in the foot
