            1. Now that I’m not really in academia anymore and I don’t have a boss either (I’m self-employed/independent), I have an absolute scientific freedom No hiring/career committee, no social pressure, no department politics It’s just me, my own resources and my own preferences

            I think we’re living in a great time for “independent” researcher like me We have a ton of options to make money, we have great and cheap tools to connect internationally and access great research and great people I’m very excited for what is coming in my life!

          I’m not giving any advice here I know I have preferences that are not compatible with a traditional academic career, I’m just saying I’ve found a situation that fits my preferences *extremely* well
