@hipavel @lovevalgeisler @BrendanHufford "Even if I was", but you’re not Trust me, when you are, it *radically* changes everything in your life, wether you like or not And when you enter *any* organization, you bring this with you
-
@hipavel @lovevalgeisler @BrendanHufford And I’m not saying that you can’t empathize But there is a lot more listening and reading that needs to happen This is something I try to do when it’s about racism and sexism and transphobia – because despite being gay, I’m still a white cisgender male
-
@hipavel @lovevalgeisler @BrendanHufford I’m not saying I "get" it, but listening completely changed my understanding It’s just a matter of staying quiet. Not even asking questions – because discriminated people don’t have an obligation, nor always the emotional bandwidth, to answer questions about their traumas.

@hipavel @lovevalgeisler @BrendanHufford (Unless the person you talked to specifically signals they’re open to answer questions. But unless they signals it, it’s reasonable to assume they doesn’t want to answer questions. I personally stopped to answer questions (even by some of my friends) about homophobia in France.)
