        @dataandpolitics I also think the razor thin margin argument is pretty convincing: if you won by a thin margin, even a small change in any parameter can turn the margin the other way around. And I would argue that changing so many things in one bill makes the overall result hard to predict.

      @dataandpolitics On the other hand, they probably know that they are in a bad position in the middle run (demographics, local activism, etc.). So it makes sense to throw everything they can as a last stand/chance.

    @dataandpolitics (I mean, the GOP could also pivot to something closer to the preferences of more voters but who does that in a healthy democracy?)
