I know my tweet feels like a dunk but it is not really a dunk The EU had to build *from scratch* a completely new system to buy vaccines for every 27 countries, and of course the whole process encountered some hiccups

And to be clear: I am **glad** the EU built this system We cannot afford a repeat of the first wave when EU countries fought their neighbours for masks, swabs and respirators. This is not how the EU is supposed to operate. Solidarity and cooperation first.

Those hiccups is also what is happening when your political institutions are not “complete”. The EU is an unprecedented political project, and it takes time and effort and errors to build it. I prefer this than the alternative, where Europe destroyed itself 3 times in 150 years
