  1. There’s a lot of bitching regarding the 600$ stimulus, but for comparison this is how much money I got from the French government since the beginning of the pandemic: 0€ The reason is because the government has enough information to direct spendings where they’re needed 1/3

      In my case, I’m really not in need of anything. But businesses closed bc of COVID need this money more. The fact the US government only option to give some sort of coverage is to give money to *everybody*, to me it’s another illustration of how poorly the US gov operates 2/3

        Because in this specific case, you could probably achieve the welfare benefits this stimulus is aiming for, but for only a fraction of the cost. But when you don’t have people’s bank account numbers, or their occupational status, etc., you can’t really target precisely. 3/3
