@SHamiltonian I don’t know. There’s probably some sort of historical inertia/path dependency. It also helps economists to put themselves at the higher position of their beloved hierarchy of the "best" social sciences, so math also serves as a device to get more power.Permalink

@SHamiltonian That being said, I am *not* advocating for less math. I’m just wondering if those answers we collectively hold as "true" are actually true, or are instead part of the narrative we like to tell around our discipline.
