        @PoliSciJack It’s indeed illegal as you cannot link in any database somebody’s identity with their race and religion (because of what happened during WWII) That being said, it’s possible to have racial data, you can ask for exceptions and/or go with more indirect routes

      @PoliSciJack That being said, I 100% agree with you France has this Republican universalism ideology that said that in theory, the Republic is color-blind. But testing this theory to actual facts is extremely controversial. I guess white fragility is a real thing here.

    @PoliSciJack The usual "criticism" you receive by raising this kind of argument is "why do you want to add more divisiveness?" Of course this criticism hugely comes from white people… (hence my hypothesis on white fragility)

      @PoliSciJack (France has a colonial history and did some very nasty things in Algeria during the civil war in the 50s there. And the current far-right is historically rooted in a political movement that denied the right of Algeria to be independent.)
