        1. How many words I have written since the beginning of the lockdown? Zero I am completely unable to write on my PhD, even though I am this close to the end Trust me I’ve tried, but I’m just stuck Turns out I can’t handle both the lockdown and the PhD at the same time A thread @dr_faquin/1257322970629849096

Working on my PhD is the most anxiety including thing I have ever experienced in my whole life, by a huge margin I can handle the anxiety, but I need my gym, my friends, my Starbucks, my life I don’t have those at the moment

I am confident I will be able to resume the writing once all of this is over, but at the moment it’s too much of a risk for my mental health I’m fine with the lockdown (remember, in France we can’t go outside for more than 1h a day, in a 1km radius from our home)

But if I start to go down, I can’t see my therapist. I can’t see anybody. And the last thing I want to experience is a burn out while being stuck completely alone in my apartment.

I’m honestly quite disgusted by all these calls for "the most productive time of your life" Those calls are horseshit, they are dangerous, reckless, and supremely toxic Lockdowns are not writing retreats in a bucolic place. They are a sign of the worst pandemic in 100 years.

If some people are able to go through it and stay productive, I’m absolutely happy for them But we don’t live in normal times. And maybe we shouldn’t forget that too easily. FIN
