@causalinf These people probably overestimate their scarcity, but I’m afraid this is a mistake done all over the board: I suspect *a lot* of economists overestimate the scarcity of talented people, and it allows this toxic culture to thrive even more.Permalink

@causalinf If we start to collectively realize that asshole A can be somewhat easily "replaced" by kind person B, I suspect we’ll be much less tolerant for this kind of assholery – and it has the potential to help move to a better equilibrium
