      1. I just rewatched Episode I, II and III I’m sorry but in terms of internal coherence and characters, it is *light years* ahead VII, VIII and IX Disney, Abrams and Johnson completely screwed up the last trilogy No Star Wars should be forgettable, but here we are…

I think III is my favorite episode, for its darkness, for how it ties together the two trilogies and for how epic and massive and emotional the last fight it And in the new movies it’s Rogue One, by a huge margin, probably for the very same reasons

I don’t mind fan service at all, Rogue One heavily relied on it But it also respected the Star Wars universe much more than the new trilogy, and imo it is how fan service should be done With intelligence

Of course, neither Rogue One nor I-II-III are perfect, even if III might be on my all time top 10 or something But compared with the new trilogy, they are much better built movies, with *a vision*, a good story and a good execution

At several point of the movies I was like "why does he brings this to our attention?" to later realize "but of course, it was to explain this" And it’s not really a build up/pay off thing, more of a "I’m explaining you why X is X" – which is the sole purpose of I-II-III btw

I think the word I’m missing is: the two initial trilogies were *storytelling* masterpieces, which is absolutely not the case of the new one So Disney, I hope you’ll have better stories to tell for the next movies. I really do.
