          1. In 2015 I launched a blog (in French) to communicate econ In 2017 I relaunched it as a full media (blog, podcast, videos…) intended to provide economists a platform A common response I had was "you’re a PhD student w/o publications, you’re illegitimate" The project’s now dead @LSEforBusiness/1182387579196456961

Science communication is an activity in itself that requires a very specific set of skills And it’s hard, because you have to translate every intuition, mechanism, methodology and whatnot without any technical fuss

I don’t want to generalize but I’m curious how many projects like mine were basically destroyed because their creators were seen as illegitimate because of something quite unrelated Because the question isn’t « am I a good researcher? » but « am I a good communicator? »

The most painful part was that I honestly tried to bring something useful, only to see it turned down because I hadn’t enough publications (And considering all the shit I had to deal with during my PhD, I wouldn’t infer my lack of publication is a lack of talent for research)

In case you wonder, I kind of relaunched something on the smoking ashes of the media that died in 2018. While still about economics, it has a completely different editorial line, and I have no plans whatsoever to interact again with economists for it.

I know I will be judged because I run this new media (called @EcoSceptique), but I was also judged when I tried to play along the "rules" ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ At least now I’m producing content I really enjoy to

Also, a couple of economists did supported me during this project. To name a few: @SergioMGarcia @EspinosaRomain @monneryb I am grateful they trusted me, and gave me their time, feedback & support 🙏 Le Signal Économie is maybe dead now, but it didn’t died sooner thanks to you!
