        @generativist @YouTube Without far rightists shouting homophobic slurs and a broken government working hard to reduce rights, it was easy to support the LGBTQ community. But not anymore: supporting it means taking a stand. And taking a stand will necessarily piss someone.

      @generativist @YouTube That being said, I would say the case of @YouTube is a bit different: they postured as allies, but by allowing people like Crowder and others, they also gave hate speech an incredible audience. They put themselves in a "for or against" position wrt the LGBTQ community.

    @generativist @YouTube Either they’re actively with us and ban the guys who broke their tos. Or they don’t ban them, which is the default solution. But by doing so, they’ll allow the hate speech to continue. It seems the default solution is also costly for @YouTube.

      @generativist @YouTube But imo it’s a completely self-inflicted wound: they pretended to be allies. Now we’re just asking them to act as such.
