    @TradeandMoney It also give huge audience to research that is not necessarily good, but was done by powerful and well connected persons. How many good research done by less powerful researchers exist outside of the "top" journals?

      @TradeandMoney Plus I suspect giving audience to this kind of research has a sort of "cultural influence" on the kind of research everyone do: if it’s published by a "star" in a "top", it’s probably a good paper. And so it becomes a sort of model that other researchers can follow.
