@dclingi Yes, exactly! But it has downsides, notably: because the assessment of candidates’ quality is quite limited, the salaries are low. An entry level maître de conférences earns ~2000€/month, which is only twice the minimum wage in France.Permalink

@dclingi Plus the French universities are severely underfunded, and the tendency is not really good… It’s not unlikely to work in really difficult conditions (no computer, no heating in winter, etc.).
