      @causalinf I would also add that if you work on something that is not "mainstream" (like, ahem, agent-based models), conferences are a great occasion to feel a little bit less isolated. To exchange with scholars who share somewhat similar views to your own.

    @causalinf I remember a workshop on agent based models in Nancy, people were half here for scientific reasons, and half here just to be with each other.
