  1. Dear all, I'm taking a semi-Twitter break for an undefined period of time. I won't be using any Twitter app or website for as long as I feel necessary ⤵️

That being said, I will continue to follow my timeline through @feedbin feedbin.com/blog/2018/01/11/feedbin-is-the-best-way-to-read-twitter/. I may still interact with some tweets. I may also post a bit. But I need to find a better way to use Twitter, aka in a way that is less psychologically challenging.

I'm tired of the bullshit, the harassment and the overall violence. Polite and respectful disagreement does not seem to be a thing here. It seems that Twitter makes the worst of people… including me. You really need to do better @jack. So far, you didn't delivered enough.

It seems that Twitter attract angry people, or that Twitter turns non-angry people into angry people. Maybe it's because explaining complicated ideas in 280 characters is fundamentally impossible.

A few weeks ago, when my thread about non-top institutions in econ went viral, I started to follow a large group of people who post content and tweets that I find really interesting. It is what you guys post I want to get – through Feedbin.

I also need to reflect on myself. My viral thread was somehow quite negative, but the deluge of incredibly positive feedback I receive made me want to reconsider a bunch of things. Twitter's overall atmosphere currently prevents me to do so fully.

It's been a few months that I am exploring a way to get the positive side of Twitter (interesting content, networking, having super interesting discussion with talented people) while cutting the negative. This semi-break is a new attempt. I hope it will bring positive results!

(I also need to find a way to deal with time zone differences. Most of the people I follow are based in the US, and because of that it is hard to get what they publish during my regular day. Feedbin will also help store what they posted, in a RSS feed-like archive.)
