On top of criticizing bad tendencies of econ, like bad elitism and lack of diversity, I do have actual skills! For exemple, here: I’m organizing a cycle of econ popularization conferences. I’m interviewing Katheline Schubert, prof at PSE on the econ of climate change. 1/ t.co/Xj46Gm8Ckb

I’m the co-founder and CEO of non-profit @ALMESE_Lorraine, and following my 3 years long experience at Le Signal Économie, I also know how to explain econ (and other non-obvious concepts) to the general public. 2/

These conferences are free to attend, and have the goal to spread economics as much as possible. It’s not conferences per see, but rather discussions between the researcher and the audience. And the audience has *a ton* of questions! 3/

We also want to disseminate econ not just on cities where a lot of students and people with graduate degrees and PhDs live, but everywhere in the region we live – including in the countryside. Science shouldn’t be only accessed by some. It’s for everyone. 4/

As a non-profit, we organize these conferences on our spare time. We do not derive anything. And because it’s not a publication, it does not count. I may actually get professionally punished to work on those conferences. 2019 academia is really sad honestly. Purpose guys. 5/

One last thing: on the picture, I’m interviewing another researcher. Like yeah, you get it right: my ego is not oversized, I’m perfectly fine with giving the opportunity to *another researcher* to share his (great) work and vision – her, in this case. 6/

Oh, and 100% of the people we invited this year are women. Yes, it’s doable to invite talented women in econ to hear more about their work. Just don’t be lazy and do it. It’s that simple. I’m really proud we gave the opportunity to such talented women to show their work. 7/

I think my problem is I’m too idealistic. I live *as if* academic econ were like a community of honest people who want to better understand the world. Luckily, #EconTwitter is here to remind me I’m not completely wrong. But still. Too much power, too little science. 8/

Anyway, I think spreading econ is important. And if I have to be kicked out of academia because I’ve choose to allocate a significant amount of my time to spread econ, that’s fine. I don’t want to be a part of this sort of academia. 9/9
