@brett_matsumoto Since 2-3 years all PhD defense committees have to be gender equal in France. But as there is more men than women with a professorship (at least in econ), female profs are over solicited to attend PhD committees.

@brett_matsumoto It means more time spent in the trains, less time to work on research and teaching. Usually, they are already professors, so there’s no risk for their career. But their productivity does suffer, and it’s hard for the rest of the profession to acknowledge this burden.Permalink
