@brianmlucey @DinaPomeranz It’s is riskier, and I also think that the current system is the "best" in France, considering that *all* academic jobs are lifetime jobs. So you better be sure you recruit someone who knows how to publish!

@brianmlucey @DinaPomeranz That being said, I’m not sure it maximises social welfare to recruit people like that. Plenty of bad incentives (plus also some French specific things like low wages, poor financing and *a lot* of teaching).Permalink
