      @DinaPomeranz … it makes it really hard to change this culture. For instance, PhD students are required to have a publication before applying to AP jobs. Considering how long it takes to get published, people usually sacrifice their papers to lower ranked journals, because it's faster.

        @DinaPomeranz And no matter how talented you are, once you started to get "successful" with this strategy, you keep relying on it. And you advice others to use it too. And for good reasons, because it works!
