        Revealed preferences: covering Trump is costly, directly and in terms of opportunity cost. So if the media decide to pay this cost, it’s probably because it’s the most profitable option.       I’m not saying there is some kind of media conspiracy to "make" Trump. But the incentives at play within the media probably helped him (and still help him) a lot.
